Title: “Nashville Zoo Stormwater Retrofit: Applying Level Spreader & Check Dam Design Principles to Restore Riparian Area and Protect Receiving Stream”

Abstract: This presentation will explore the challenges and constraints of dissipating the energy of runoff from a detention basin that had been scouring the riparian area adjacent to a stream at the Nashville Zoo as well as the ways in which off-site stormwater pollutants were captured to improve water quality.

Biography:  Steven E. Casey, P.E., CPESC. Steve has over 20 years of civil engineering consulting experience and currently serves as CEC’s Water Resources Practice Lead. Beginning his career in solid waste management and later obtaining experience in site development, wastewater treatment, flood studies, natural channel design, and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) compliance, he has tended toward the water resources aspects of any field in which he's worked.
